I am a pro-life, pro-family fiscal conservative. I believe that the role of government is to encourage people to run their own lives and businesses. I will protect your freedom by reducing taxes, limiting government spending, and eliminating burdensome government regulation.

Budget and Taxes

Years of irresponsible over-spending have resulted in dramatic state deficits and soaring tax rates. I am dedicated to restoring discipline and fiscal responsibility to Iowa’s budget. I will continue to fight to limit spending, set priorities, and reduce taxes to allow taxpayers to keep more of their hard-earned dollars. I also support increasing transparency about government spending in order to make our government more accountable to the taxpayer.

Business Climate

Small business is the engine that drives Iowa’s economy. To restore and grow our economy, we must provide a stable climate in which business owners have the confidence to invest in their businesses and hire new employees. We must reduce taxes and burdensome regulation that stifle job creation. We must promote Iowa’s highly capable and well-educated workforce, as well as its status as a right to work state, in order to attract new investment in our state.

Agriculture

Agriculture is the backbone of Iowa’s economy. I will continue to support our agricultural community and encourage private investment in renewable fuel production.

Education

I want Iowa’s schools to be the best in the nation so that we can prepare our children to compete in a global economy. Schools and communities should have flexibility that allows them to focus on student achievement. I support policies that allow local communities to make decisions about their schools, and will fight to eliminate unfunded burdens and mandates. I will fight hard to make sure taxpayer dollars reach the classroom not a bureaucracy.
